Albert Puig

Club Esportiu Mediterrani · ESP

Albert is a swimmer from Spain, a sprinter and an international traveller on the circuit, whose official competitive record spans 13 seasons, 14 years, 10 countries and 211 meets.

His recorded career begins in 2008, and one of his earliest marks still on file is the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.34, raced in Palma. He started out alongside C.N. TERRASSA.

His signature event is the 50 butterfly, the event he has raced the most, followed by the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle. Butterfly is where his specialisation lies (126 meets), while freestyle appears in more meets (138 meets and 498 recorded swims spread across 9 different distances) because he races it across the full distance range rather than as a main event.

His fastest 50 butterfly stands at 24.47, set in long course (50 m) at Sabadell.

His record includes national championships, between 2011 and 2018 (Spanish Junior National Championships (50m) and Spanish National Championships (25m)). A representative mark at that level is 2:19.34 in the 200 breaststroke, recorded in long course (50 m). He also appears in international meets.

After a 2-year break between 2018 and 2020, he came back to racing and the record picks up again in 2020. 2012 is the busiest season on record, with 250 verified individual swims.

He is a genuinely international swimmer: the official record spans 10 countries (Spain, France, Monaco, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and Sweden), including 15 of 211 meets outside Spain.

Those meets span 26 different venues (Terrassa, Barcelona, Sabadell and Madrid…). He has raced for CLUB NATACIO RADIKAL SWIM, Club Esportiu Mediterrani and C.N. TERRASSA.

The last race on record is dated December 18, 2021 in Sant Feliu De Llobregat, with 4 swims: 31.41 in the 50 breaststroke, 28.65 in the 50 backstroke and 23.83 in the 50 freestyle, all in short course (25 m). He closes this record with 38 current event personal bests and 297 all-time PB improvements, across 1444 verified official swims in competitions governed by RFEN and World Aquatics.
