Beata Nelson

USA

Beata is a swimmer from the United States, a sprinter and a collegiate competitor, whose official competitive record spans 13 seasons, 31 years, 11 countries and 67 meets.

Her recorded career begins in 1995 in Mar Del Plata, where she raced the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.38.

Her signature event is the 200 individual medley, the event she has raced the most, followed by the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Individual medley is where her specialisation lies (45 meets), while backstroke appears in more meets (49 meets and 85 recorded swims) because she races it across the full distance range rather than as a main event.

Her fastest 200 individual medley stands at 2:05.82, set in long course (50 m) at ISL Match 7 - 2021.

Her record includes the World Cup circuit, between 2022 and 2024 (FINA Swimming World Cup 2022 and World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2023 - Berlin). A representative mark at that level is 2:04.92 in the 200 individual medley, recorded in short course (25 m). She also appears in national championships.

After a 19-year break between 1995 and 2014, she came back to racing and the record picks up again in 2014. 2021 is the busiest season on record, with 50 verified individual swims.

She is a genuinely international swimmer: the official record spans 11 countries (the United States, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Argentina, Canada, China, Germany, Greece and Singapore), including 23 of 67 meets outside the United States.

Those meets span 32 different venues (Budapest, Indianapolis, San Antonio and Irvine…).

Latest competition: 2025 National Championships in Indianapolis, on June 5, 2025, with 1 swim: 58.73 in the 100 butterfly, all in long course (50 m). She closes this record with 34 current event personal bests and 79 all-time PB improvements, across 244 verified official swims in competitions governed by World Aquatics, NCAA and USA Swimming.
