Joan Casanovas

C.N. Sabadell · ESP

Joan is a swimmer from Spain, a collegiate competitor and an international traveller on the circuit, whose official competitive record spans 19 seasons, 10 countries and 245 meets.

His recorded career begins in 2008, and one of his earliest marks still on file is the 800 freestyle in 8:18.22, raced in Palma.

His signature event is the 200 freestyle, his reference distance in freestyle, ahead of the 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle. Freestyle is the backbone of the whole record: 203 meets and 778 recorded swims.

His fastest 200 freestyle stands at 1:50.05, set in long course (50 m) at Sabadell.

His record includes national championships, in 2022 (Campeonato de España Absoluto de invierno). A representative mark at that level is 48.97 in the 100 freestyle, recorded in long course (50 m). He also appears in collegiate championships.

The record runs unbroken from 2008 to 2026: 19 consecutive seasons without a single missing year.

He is a genuinely international swimmer: the official record spans 10 countries (Spain, the United States, Denmark, Colombia, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, France, Malta and Monaco), including 30 of 245 meets outside Spain.

Those meets span 30 different venues (Sabadell, Barcelona, Terrassa and Manresa…). He has raced for Spanish Swimming Federation, Arizona State University, Drury University and Club Natación Sabadell.

Still active: the directory includes official activity in the 2026 season. The last race on record is dated March 11, 2026. He holds 50 current event personal bests and 422 all-time PB improvements across 1421 verified official swims in competitions governed by RFEN, World Aquatics and NCAA.
