JORGE SANCHEZ SANCHEZ

ESP

Jorge is a swimmer from Spain, a backstroke specialist and a sprinter, whose official competitive record spans 14 seasons, 20 years, 9 countries and 30 meets.

His recorded career begins in 1998, and one of his earliest marks still on file is the 50 backstroke in 26.12, raced in FINA Swimming World Cup 2001-2002. He started out alongside Federación Puertorriqueña de Natación.

His signature event is the 100 backstroke, the event he has raced the most, followed by the 200 backstroke and 50 backstroke. Backstroke is the backbone of the whole record: 27 meets and 53 recorded swims.

His fastest 100 backstroke stands at 56.34, set in long course (50 m) at European Championships 2004.

He has raced at the Olympic Games level, in 2004 (Olympic Games Athens 2004). A representative mark at that level is 2:00.12 in the 200 backstroke, recorded in long course (50 m). He also appears in world championships, the World Cup circuit and continental championships.

After a 2-year break between 2014 and 2016, he came back to racing and the record picks up again in 2016. 2010 is the busiest season on record, with 29 verified individual swims.

He is a genuinely international swimmer: the official record spans 9 countries (UNK, Spain, Germany, Finland, Greece, the United States, Australia, China and France), including 24 of 30 meets outside Spain.

Those meets span 17 different venues (Gre, Complejo Acuatico, Campeonatos Fedona and Chn…). He has raced for 7 clubs, led by Federación Puertorriqueña de Natación, Asociacion Natacion Del Distrito, C.D. NATACION MORALEDA and Caribbean Swim Team.
