MANUEL SERRANO LAGUNA

C.D. Toledo Monteverde · ESP

Manuel is a swimmer from Spain, a collegiate competitor and an international traveller on the circuit, whose official competitive record spans 11 seasons, 21 years, 4 countries and 61 meets.

His recorded career begins in 2004, and one of his earliest marks still on file is the 1500 freestyle in 18:19.50, raced in Toledo. He started out alongside C.N. TOLEDO.

His signature event is the 200 breaststroke, his reference distance in breaststroke, ahead of the 100 breaststroke and 50 breaststroke. Breaststroke is the backbone of the whole record: 36 meets and 54 recorded swims.

In short course yards (25 yd), he went from 2:07.39 in 2014 to a best of 2:02.59 in 2018 (NAIA Championships): 4.80 seconds gained in the 200 breaststroke.

His record includes collegiate championships, between 2015 and 2018 (Appalachian Swimming Conference Championship and NAIA Championships). A representative mark at that level is 2:02.59 in the 200 breaststroke, recorded in short course yards (25 yd). His standout long course mark is 2:24.81 in the 200 breaststroke, set in 2013 at Valencia in long course (50 m).

After a 6-year break between 2018 and 2024, he came back to racing and the record picks up again in 2024.

He is a genuinely international swimmer: the official record spans 4 countries (the United States, Spain, UNK and Qatar), including 40 of 61 meets outside Spain.

Those meets span 29 different venues (Toledo, Talavera De La Reina, Baisi Athletic Cente and Columbus…). He has raced for West Virginia Institute of Technology, Gateway High School (Kissimmee), C.D. Toledo Monteverde and C.N. TOLEDO.

His most recent recorded season is 2024. He closes this record with 39 current event personal bests and 64 all-time PB improvements, across 141 verified official swims in competitions governed by RFEN, NCAA and NAIA.
