PATRICIA CASTRO ORTEGA

ESP

Patricia is a swimmer from Spain, a sprinter and an international traveller on the circuit, whose official competitive record spans 15 seasons, 16 countries and 190 meets.

Her recorded career begins in 2004, and one of her earliest marks still on file is the 25 breaststroke in 38.29, raced in Madrid. She started out alongside REAL CANOE N.C..

Her signature event is the 100 freestyle, the event she has raced the most, followed by the 200 freestyle and 50 freestyle. Freestyle is the backbone of the whole record: 176 meets and 1358 recorded swims.

Her fastest 100 freestyle stands at 55.05, set in long course (50 m) at Winter-Circuit Trophy Madrid Community.

Her record includes national championships, between 2010 and 2014 (Spanish National Championships (50m) and French National Championships (50m)). A representative mark at that level is 54.41 in the 100 freestyle, recorded in short course (25 m). She also appears in international meets.

The record runs unbroken from 2004 to 2018: 15 consecutive seasons without a single missing year. 2011 is the busiest season on record, with 235 verified individual swims.

She is a genuinely international swimmer: the official record spans 16 countries (Spain, France, the United States, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, Brazil, China, Croatia, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates), including 40 of 190 meets outside Spain.

Those meets span 29 different venues (Madrid, Barcelona, Sabadell and Gijón…). She has raced for C.N. MADRID MOSCARDO, REAL CANOE N.C., C.N. TERRASSA and FED. MADRID.

Latest competition: MAIRENA DEL ALJARAFE, on July 15, 2018, with 1 swim: 2:23.01 in the 200 individual medley, all in long course (50 m). She closes this record with 37 current event personal bests and 252 all-time PB improvements, across 1832 verified official swims in competitions governed by RFEN and World Aquatics.
